Dear TFD Patients,
Earlier this year I was excited to announce to you that I was starting a new practice, Back to Basics. (I did start it, and I feel that my patients who have followed me there have been pleased with the good old fashioned, compassionate and quality care they have received…and we are still taking new patients).
Our plans were to keep Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc) open to serve the patients who are totally reliant on their insurance for healthcare. After the move to our new location, we discovered that in spite of my staff and my own best efforts at trying to reassure and explain the transition and move, and that it would change nothing about the care that you would receive at Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc)…people were worried. Our visits have decreased by almost 80%. In addition we have experienced new and increasingly frustrating payment delays and problems with our major insurance carriers that we deal with. Also, there are added community pressures making it tough for the traditional private (Insurance/Medicare) based practice to survive.
For all of these reasons I am very sad to announce that after 15 years of service to our patients in Sanford, Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc) will close on Friday May 31, 2013.
I am excited to ALSO announce that TFD’s Back to Basics Medical Practice, PLLC will further expand its services (and availability ) as of June 1, 2013.
For those of you who have remained at Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc), we say thank you for allowing us to care for you and your families over the past decade and a half. For those of you that have joined Back to Basics, I appreciate your confidence as I continue with 3 decades of service to my patients.
I do care very much about all of you and your health and wellness. That is why we want to do everything possible in making this a smooth transition. My office will be happy to provide information and assistance on how to transfer, with me, over to Back to Basics. For those of you who enjoy (or feel you must stay) with an insurance led practice, my office can provide a list of primary care providers in our county , and assist you in locating those practices who are accepting new patients. My office can also help you with information on how we can assist you in transferring your records to the provider of your choice.
In accordance with the NC Medical Board Guidelines, we are making ourselves available for your care until May 31 (30 days as recommended by the Board). During this time, we will be happy to see you in our office, to make sure your urgent needs are met, prescriptions refilled, etc. Hillarey S. Leggette and Brandi Shackelford will be our transition team. The transition team can arrange for you to be seen for urgent needs, referrals, refills, or assist you in transferring records etc. You can reach them at 919-776-3750, or in Suite E at our offices on 1503 Elm Street. They can also help you arrange appointments for follow up and continuation of your care with my Back to Basics Medical Practice.
I thank you so much for your support over the past 15 years of Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc) and the past 32 years that I have practiced here in Sanford. I am excited about my continued plans for practice in Sanford at Back to Basics….but also am sad to say goodbye to so many patients/friends at Robert W. Patterson, MD PA (The Family Doc).
